Harris’ Preschool and Kindergarten Teams support students in transitioning to kindergarten through the “Pave the Path to Kindergarten” event. During the week of March 30th through April 2nd, preschool and kindergarten teachers collaborate to provide our kinderbound students with an authentic and exciting kindergarten experience. Each student spends 40 minutes in a kindergarten classroom participating in a lesson and a hands-on activity.

Students working at a table

This year, some students participated in an interactive story time with Kindergarten students in their classroom. They listened to a story together and used the BenQ Board to respond to questions. Some students enjoyed the story There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shamrock. As the story was read, students helped feed the old lady, making the experience interactive and engaging. Afterward, they returned to their desks to complete a themed activity book based on the story. To finish the lesson, students created a rainbow using marshmallows, pipe cleaners, and Fruit Loops.

Everyone had so much fun, and the experience helped build excitement and confidence as our preschoolers look forward to becoming kindergarten students!
