Author Visit with Levi Leyba

ELL students had the exciting opportunity to meet Levi Leyba, author and illustrator of the award-winning Young Series bilingual children’s books.

This special event brought our ELL students together for an engaging and inspiring experience. Students listened to stories and learned about Mr. Leyba’s journey to becoming an author and illustrator, showing them that their own ideas, stories, and drawings can become something real.

Students also searched for hidden “Easter eggs” in Mr. Leyba’s books, practiced simple drawing techniques, and each received a motivational bookmark to take home.

As part of their ELP standards, students prepared thoughtful questions in their ELL classrooms and had the opportunity to ask them during the visit. Their questions ranged from Mr. Leyba’s experiences before becoming an author to his favorite book as a child.

It was a meaningful experience that highlighted the power of bilingualism and creativity, while showing students the many possibilities available to them.
