Subject or Grade: Resource Kindergarten-Third Grades Room:103

As a special education resource teacher I get the opportunity to work with numerous students at different grade levels. This year I am teaching Kindergarten through Third grade students.
I have been teaching special education for almost 20 years in the Gilbert School District. I have taught in a self contained environment and in the resource setting.
Your child's success is of utmost importance to me. I believe in educating the "whole child."  Behavior, character, and academics are all important aspects of a child's life and need to work in balance with each other.

Each of my students is on an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) which is guided by the needs of each student. The plan is updated annually and every three years, at minimum, a student is reevaluated to see if he/she continues to qualify for special education services.

I follow the school wide discipline plan in my classroom as well as an individualized management plan. I use punch cards as a way of positive reinforcement in my classroom. If students are on task, have work completed, participating in class discussions and are following the school rules, they are able to earn punches. Once they get 20 punches, they have earned a small piece of candy. When a student gets two full punch cards, he/she is able pick from my goodie box.

My Schedule:
8:40-8:50 - Social Stories with kindergarten students
9:10-9:30 - Inclusion in kindergarten classroom
10:00-10:30 - Hawk Reading with second grade students
10:35-11:05 - Hawk Reading with first grade students
