Title I

“Title I provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to meet the needs of educationally disadvantaged children at preschool, elementary, and secondary school levels. The purpose of Title I is to help all children achieve proficiency with Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards. This is accomplished through supplemental programs that consist of instructional services, instructional support services, school wide reform efforts, and increased involvement of parents in their children’s education.” Arizona Department of Education

Gilbert Public Schools has several Title I Elementary Campuses. These campuses are identified to receive Title I funding based on free and reduced lunch percentages. Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for…

  • Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help these students meet the State’s challenging content standards.

  • Purchasing supplemental /programs/materials/supplies

  • Conducting parental Involvement meetings/trainings/activities

  • Recruiting/Hiring/Retaining Highly Qualified Teachers and Paraprofessionals

Gilbert Public Schools consists of School wide(SW) Programs and Targeted Assistance(TA) Programs. Harris Elementary School is a School wide Program.
